Cass prepares and serves 700,000 meals a year to those experiencing homelessness and/or living in poverty.
Our food is sourced from our community gardens and food rescuers like our friends at Gleaners and Forgotten Harvest. Faith-based organizations, schools, corporate groups, and fraternities/sororities also provide Cass with canned food which is distributed to our neighbors. In addition, we receive several hundreds of pounds of meat from hunters in Northern Michigan each fall.
With these partners, Cass is able to provide healthy and well-balanced meals every day of the week.
Our kitchen is under the direction of Carl Agnott, who came to us from the Whitney Restaurant. In addition to planning the menus, he trains staff, supervises volunteers, and prepares food.
With Carl’s help, Cass is capable of handling outside catering jobs. If you would like additional information or to hire Cass to cater an event, please contact Deputy Director Erica George at egeorge@casscommunity.org.
