Cass began creating jobs for people with significant barriers to employment during the recession of 2007. The agency created Green Industries as a means to link employment with sustainability and to use sales to pay for the new positions. Currently 80 adults have jobs with Green Industries which produces:
- Mud Mats from illegally dumped tires
- Coaster sets utilizing repurposed wood from demolished houses and glass scraps from a Guardian Glass business.
- Shredded materials through our document destruction program. Organizations pay for us to pick up and destroy their paper, cardboard, and x-rays. We then sell the unidentifiable materials to a Wisconsin paper mill which uses them to make new products.
