The Cass Free Medical Clinic is open at Cass Community United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturdays year round and at the Scott Building from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesdays during the school year. Volunteer doctors and Wayne State University medical students staff the operation, offering health screenings, providing simple medications, and, as needed, arranging for pro bono procedures.
During the weekdays, the Cass’s Kim Center is used by 125 adults with developmental disabilities. Program members decide on personal goals–social, educational, vocational, and recreational. Several people at the activity center own their own businesses. Others work in the community and a good number are employed in the document destruction (shredding) program.
