After thoughtful consideration, we are moving forward with the 15th Annual CCSS Charity Golf Scramble on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Plum Hollow Country Club.
Safety necessitates some logistical changes in the format of this year’s event. This year we will have staggered tee times rather than a shotgun start and will forego a banquet style dinner in favor of drinks and a lite meal on the patio as foursomes finish their round. A Zoom style awards ceremony and live auction are also under consideration.

Cass has emergency shelter programs to help 150 men, women and children who are dealing with homelessness. Although some of the ten shelters in Detroit offer private rooms, Cass has only congregate accommodations. This means that 30 to 60 people share the same sleeping room, 100 people use the same bathroom, and all 150 eat in the same dining room. Social distancing has been impossible.
We are gratified to report that in May, Detroit identified 90 people with COVID-19 in the City’s 10 shelters but only one of them was from Cass shelter. We’re proud of the exemplary work of our essential staff that were at risk and worried about their families for months. It has become clear during the pandemic that in order to protect our residents, staff, and community, Cass will have to acquire separate accommodations for the emergency shelters in the very near future.
