The Saturday Community Lunch continues to accommodate people in a variety of situations: homeless individuals, senior citizens, low income families in the area and sometimes volunteers doing physical labor at the church and/or center.

1. The Saturday Lunch program now takes place at the Scott Building not the Cass United Methodist Church. The Scott Building houses our administrative offices, rooms for 42 residents, The Homeless Drop-in shelter and Cass Commercial Kitchen. It is located at 11850 Woodrow Wilson between Elmhurst and Webb.

2. In preparing for your day, your group should purchase all paper products and food needed. Paper goods include plates, cups, eating utensils and napkins. Meals generally include an entrée (usually with meat s starch , a fruit or vegetable, or salad, bread and butter, dessert and beverage.

3. The Saturday Community Lunch is served at 12:00 PM. Food  for 50 people needs to be sent to the Center by 11:30.

4. 150 of these meals will be served at the Scott Building beginning at noon.

5. After the blessing, Cass volunteers will regulate the food line. Guests are not allowed to have seconds, until all have been served. Also, Health Department guidelines forbid taking food from the building.

6. Cass volunteers will assist with the clean-up. Serving tables need to be left clean for serving the dinner meal. Garbage is taken to the parking lot dumpster in order to discourage insects and rodents.

7. Groups should park in our fenced parking lot on the north side of the building. Please do not leave valuables in view (tapes, CDs, car phones, brief cases, cameras etc.) You can enter the Scott Building through the main entrance on Woodrow Wilson.

8. If you have extra persons available, we would be delighted to suggest a number of projects that could be started and completed in a couple of hours.
